Now, you may be asking yourself; what can I do to better ensure my personal safety and the security of my loved one? This is an excellent question! I'm here to address a few precautions you can take regarding your home. Simple measures such as dead bolts, window alarms, flood lights and video security systems can help a great deal. What are you willing to spend in order to make your home safe and secured?

We all have different budgets. This is no big secret. In reality, most of us fall into the middle class income bracket. Therefore we live on a budget and must factor in the costs of extra items such as video security cameras and pricey alarm systems.

Now, the good news is that you really don't have to spend a ton to get a decent home-defense system up and running. I must encourage everyone to install dead bolts on all doors entering your home. These make it much more difficult to penetrate the door. Moreover, make those deadbolts, key deadbolts. This way a criminal cannot break a window in or next to the door and flip the deadbolt on the inside. He would need the key to unlock it. Anyway, on to the video security cameras. Just so you know, you don't have to fork out a grand for security cameras and a monitor. Prices actually start as low as 100 bucks. You can acquire a three camera rig-up and wire it to a television or computer. Most likely you'll want to position the cameras on the exterior of your home. This makes the most sense. This way you can see if someone is lurking around or approaching the home. These video security cameras are often quite small and undetectable. Most people won't even notice them.

What I like about video security systems is that they keep me informed. I have a four camera set-up around the exterior of my home. If a predator approaches at any hour and attempts to penetrate the home, I can immediately alert the police. All is seen on my handy laptop. Therefore it's easy to keep an eye out while I work. You can even monitor your home when away from home or at work with the assistance of a wireless network.
