Portable Basketball Goal

When one of my friends got me a portable basketball goal to use in my office, I thought that it was a bad idea. Of course, you see some of those movies with people playing on indoor basketball goals, shooting baskets from chairs between meetings and it looks like a lot of fun.

But in my case, I knew that the portable basketball backboard could only get me into trouble or so I thought.

In spite of my hesitation, I felt like I should try it anyway. A friend who got me the portable basketball hoop had shot baskets with me in my own driveway basketball hoop for several years, and this present seemed like a very sweet and touching gift from him. I was definitely getting on in years, and I felt like I should be able to make it through meeting without shooting any portable basketball goals, so I was pretty sure that it wouldn't compromise my professionalism. I decided to give it a go and see what happened.

To my surprise, the portable basketball goal actually increased my productivity.

At first, of course, played basketball too often, but soon I was only shooting when I had time to take a break. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised, because during my last job, when I had worked near my house, I had loves to go home and shoot baskets in between appointments. Having a portable basketball goal seemed like a way of taking a little bit of physical activity with me. I could unwind, relax, and get some nervous energy out. Then I would be even better prepared for getting back to work.

One of the funniest things about that portable basketball goal is that it has made me a few unlikely friends. Many of my coworkers will come into the office whenever they get a chance and shoot hoops with me. My boss is fine with this. You see, he has been starting a campaign to encourage us to form closer bonds throughout the work place. If the portable basketball goal is what it takes to accomplish this, he is all for them. He has even been thinking about installing a portable basketball goal outside in the courtyard so that we can shoot a few hoops during lunch. People need a little bit of physical activity if they're going to work at their best, and a portable basketball goal offers the chance to get that activity.
