Monty Python Complete

I have been a Monty Python fan since high school who hasn't? I have read all of the Monty Python scripts and recited them with my friends, practically memorizing Monty Python's holy Grail line for line.

I wonder if I'll be held responsible for this?

I have watched many different episodes of the show, seen all the movies, all of the stuff that Terry Gilliam has done since then, and even seen the early proto-python early work. When the Monty Python complete set came out, I almost ran out and bought it immediately. It was only the knowledge that my mother would surely get it for my next birthday present that stopped me from purchasing it. Although it was difficult, it was worth the wait!

Having all the Monty Python skits in one place really somehow remakes the series for me. Watching Monty Python movies was one thing, but in the past I always had to wait for it to be on to see the show. They would show different Monty Python episodes at different times, and some of them you would almost never see while some of them got old through being overplayed.

With the Monty Python complete box set, however, I can watch each and every episode, making sure that I don't miss a single skit. It looks like there are even some that I've never seen before!

Ever since I tried to play the entirety of Monty Python's Complete Waste of Time in high school have I wasted so much time on anything Python related. The very first weekend, in fact, I had several friends over for a Monty Python complete marathon. We decided to watch the entire Monty Python complete set, one disc after another, but gave up halfway through. At that point, we had already imbibed such a quantity of alcohol and gotten so slaphappy that we had missed several episodes in a row. Watching the complete Monty Python, it appears, is truly a mammoth task something which I may never be up to doing in one sitting.

What really amazes me is, after all this time, Monty Python's Flying Circus has yet to get old. In some ways, it gets better with every viewing. Although some of the freshness has diminished, the absurdity of it simply builds and builds each time you watch it. Perhaps it has to do with the sense of humor that it caters to, but there is nothing that leaves me in hysterics like watching it ad nausea.
