The low carb Atkins diet is one of the most controversial diet plans ever, and the controversy is showing no signs of falling off.

I am not an academic, and I am not asking does the Atkins diet work for purely intellectual reasons. You see, I am a dieter myself. When I heard about the low carb diet, I was very excited. Although I do crave carbs, the wonderful results that people seem to be achieving with this diet plan made it worth checking out.

As far as I can tell, the answer to the questions does the Atkins diet work is a resounding yes. The answers to the other questions, however, are a little bit trickier. I am not really that interested in how it works, but I am interested in whether or not it is dangerous. The problem is that there are so many people in the medical community who are paid money for sponsoring various programs, medications, or diet plans that it is often difficult to get good information. Like it or not, modern medicine has sold its soul to the devil. Nonetheless, there is enough evidence that the Atkins diet is dangerous that it might be worth trying another diet before going on this one. Some people say that it can even shutdown your liver and kidneys, a claim that have not been conclusively refuted. I say better safe than sorry.
