Disney Dvd

Our kids love their entertainment. How many cartoons does your child watch each day? I tell you, I can't even begin to keep track of all the cartoons and kid's shows my eight year old daughter views on a daily basis.

Between the Cartoon Network, The Disney Channel, and Noggin, it's certainly more than a few. I'm talking Tivo overload here. And that's not even counting her Disney DVD collection. They watch these same films redundantly. No offense to Walt, but I don't think I can stand to watch «The Emperor's New Groove» one more time.

My view of Disney is not quite the same as it was back when I was a child. I'm a bit more on the cynical side now. Ever since my daughter told me that Disney would not allow her class to watch a Disney DVD unless they paid a fee, I haven't been to keen on the so-called magical experience. Apparently the massive Disney company has gotten out of hand and ridiculously greedy since Walt's passing.

I seriously doubt this is what Walt intended. I guess it's not surprising that the Disney company has become less than scrupulous over the years. Oodles of cash tends to do that. But what about the Disney DVD and video process they've got going? As I'm sure you've noticed if you have children, Disney movies are released and then sent «back to the vault» for a period of years. It may be seven years at a time. Disney re-releases the films again later so that they'll appeal to a new generation. What a way to make tons of dough!

Behind all the warm and fuzzy propaganda and advertising, Disney is NOT such a magical company at all. When it comes down to it, the only thing they seem to be interested in is making a lot of green and making sure they look good in the process. Go figure! So the next time you plan that massive summer getaway to Disney World, you may want to ponder what kind of a company charges an elementary school classroom for watching a Disney DVD. Gees, what's next? Will Mickey Mouse start charging for hugs in the theme park? Walt is no doubt rolling over in his grave.
